The five key trends spotted at Cersaie

Earlier this fall, our team was travelling to Bologna in Italy to visit Cersaie, one of the biggest International ceramic tile exhibition. Get the first look at the most stunning trends you will see in 2018!

 1 | Millennial pink

Pink was the most notable and ubiquitous trend this season at Cersaie. Sometimes peach pink, other times dusky rose, variations of pink were everywhere this year! On the walls, floors, accessories and furniture, the colour is reminiscent of the fifties and sixties. This colour has become so prevalent that it has been named “millennial pink”.

2 | Geometry

Geometric patterns are everywhere! They will be very common in 2018 in all sorts of ways. Create tile designs by combining different sizes and colours, or by using tiles printed with geometric lines. In 2018, anything goes: bright colours, neutrals and tone-on-tone designs.

3 | Fade in and out

We saw many original tile transitions that change simple installations or break up repetitive patterns. Some fresh new trends were the use of tonal gradations and pattern blends on floors and walls.

4 | Terrazzo

The terrazzo style is still prevalent this year in all possible shapes and colours! These ceramic tiles could easily be mistaken for the flooring of our primary schools. The redesigned terrazzo style is both bold and versatile, and will be seen in even more decors this year.

5 | Mixing trends

All styles can be combined! In 2018, you can go wild and create fade in and out using geometric patterns, or integrate terrazzo-style patterns into your decor.
