Purchasing Agent

The person in this position is responsible for coordinating the procurement of products under their responsibility with suppliers, while ensuring product availability in the warehouse. They also oversee procurement activities related to merchandising and marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase plumbing category products and special orders, and issue purchase orders to local suppliers.
  • Create new product codes in the SAP system.
  • Maintain up-to-date product statuses and inform teams of any status changes.
  • Verify product availability with suppliers.
  • Analyze sales trends to optimize costs and make recommendations to the management team.
  • Optimize and review work methodologies, including documentation, orders, and price lists.
  • Ensure that sales terms and return policies are properly applied to special orders.
  • Work closely with suppliers to establish and maintain strong client/supplier relationships and keep supplier records up to date.
  • Follow up on orders, obtain confirmations, manage backordered items, and maintain and update the delivery schedule.
  • Respond to sales team requests regarding pricing and product availability within established timelines.
  • Maintain accurate product status updates and communicate changes to internal teams.
  • Issue purchase orders and follow up to ensure deliveries are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely updates regarding product availability.
  • Monitor ongoing orders and ensure delivery deadlines are respected.
  • Build and maintain strong and professional relationships with suppliers and showroom sales teams.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with the procurement department to improve purchasing processes and strategies.
  • Explore opportunities with potential suppliers and develop strategic partnerships.

Requirements:

  • Education in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement.
  • Product-related experience (an asset).
  • Knowledge of SAP and EXE software (an asset).
  • Bilingualism required (spoken and written).
  • Intermediate knowledge of the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
